1987 911

The Kronberg Racing 911 is a lightweight sports purpose build inspired by legendary designer Dieter Rams and German privateer race cars of the early ‘70s. Designed by Gary Hustwit and Rich Gonçalves of ROCS Motorsports, it's based on an '87 Carrera, with an upgraded 3.4L engine, G50 transmission with limited slip differential, WEVO short shifter, backdated body panels, and custom fabricated parts throughout. The steel deck lid grille and front horn grilles are inspired by vintage Braun hi-fi speakers designed by Rams. It also features a hand-bent aluminum front splitter, integrated front bumper lights, and custom shaped flares. The car rides on a track-ready modified suspension system, with 16x7 and 16x9 Fuchs and Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tires. Other modifications include a sunroof delete, vented perspex rear side windows, burnished brightwork, a custom fuel filler, R-style taillights, 550 Spyder side view mirror, and hand-painted exterior artwork. The car's interior is equally sports-purpose minded, with custom aluminum floorboards, hand-shaped steel dashboard, vintage race bucket seats, deleted rear seats, manual window conversion, custom leather door pulls, and door cards covered in cloth by Maharam. A first generation Momo Prototipo 360mm steering wheel completes the design. The Kronberg 911 made its public debut at The Bridge in September, 2022, and was profiled by Type 7 Magazine. It also appeared at the 2023 Amelia Island Concours Cars & Caffeine and the inaugural The Hangar Amelia show.
